Configure an agent

Choose Create agent from Agents to open the editor with an optional voice guide. You can type the details or talk to the builder on the same page. Both create an unpublished draft. Open a saved agent from Agents to change its settings. The preview uses the last saved version.

Create and refine a draft

Enter an Agent name and Your business and your agent’s purpose in About, then select Save draft. Continue through Knowledge, Help & voice, and Test & publish. Select Save changes after editing; saved drafts also appear in Agents.

To work by voice, select Talk to the builder in the guide above the editor. Describe your business and what visitors need, ask for a voice or greeting, or share a public webpage to import facts. The same fields update and save as you talk. Save any typed edits before starting a builder call.

End the builder call and wait for its final changes to sync before editing, testing, or publishing. End a test conversation before returning to the builder. Keep the creation page URL to return to the same workspace.

Review the saved instructions and facts, add your website addresses in Test & publish, and choose Publish agent when ready. Publication requires the on-screen button.

About: purpose, tone, and guidance

Write a purpose that says who visitors are, what the business offers, and what a good outcome looks like. Keep it concrete:

Help visitors understand our pottery classes, find the right beginner session, and learn how to book. Use the business information below for schedules and prices. If a detail is missing, say so and suggest contacting the studio.

Use How should it come across? for a short tone such as “Warm, patient, and concise.” Use A little extra guidance for boundaries, handoffs, or phrasing. Put factual details in Knowledge so they are easy to update.

Help & voice: choose what the agent can do

  • Answer questions about what is happening now: When enabled, the assistant can look up current information and show source links. Your own business facts should still come from the information you provide.
  • Show helpful steps on screen: When enabled, the assistant can create and revise notices, choices, and forms as the conversation changes. The visitor can respond while talking. An agent-created form can go to your Inbox only after the visitor reviews it and presses Send; displaying or revising it does not send anything.
  • Let the agent create custom interactive screens: Enable this separately if you want the assistant to generate HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for an on-screen view and revise it while talking. The code runs in an isolated widget frame and cannot edit the rest of your website. Feedback fields and the final Send control remain in the widget outside that frame. This setting requires on-screen steps.
  • Take a message for your team: When enabled, the assistant can prepare a follow-up request. The visitor reviews and confirms the details on screen before the request is saved to your Inbox. This does not send an email or text message.
  • Voice and language: Choose a voice and preferred language. The agent can adapt when a visitor speaks another language.
  • Conversation style: Choose Balanced, Economical, or Expressive. Test each style with a real conversation before settling on one.
  • Length and greeting: Select a maximum conversation length. Greet visitors when they connect controls whether the assistant speaks first after the visitor starts a call; it does not open the microphone on its own.

These options apply to new conversations after you save. The browser widget enforces the selected conversation length for its own session; it is not a server-side billing cap.

Test before publishing

Save your changes, then start the widget under Try a real conversation in Test & publish. Ask for a fact that is in your knowledge, one that is missing, and a question outside the agent's job. Try interruptions and microphone mute. If you enabled web answers, inspect the source links. If you enabled on-screen steps, ask for options and a short form, then change your request while the form is open and check that it updates without discarding what you typed. If you enabled custom screens, ask for a small interactive view. If you enabled follow-up requests or submitted a form to the owner, check Inbox.

When the result is ready, follow Publish to a website. You can unpublish later to stop new visitor conversations. Changes to a published agent affect new conversations.
